Psychology of Men and Masculinities

Consultant Clinical Psychologist

Traditionally our culture has meant that men do not feel they are allowed to be overly emotionally expressive. Men are not allowed to feel vulnerable, lonely, sad or any other kind of emotion not deemed masculine. Indeed men are only allowed to be happy or angry. As a result, men have particular psychological needs and often these are expressed in common ways.

Dr H. Eli Joubert has worked with men clinically in different contexts for more than 10 years to help them deal with the challenges they face. He has been involved in professional organisations such as APA Div 51, Psychology Of Men and Masculinities and currently he is also on the founding committee of the BPS Section Of Male Psychology.

He has also written a number of published works in this area.
