Consultant Clinical Psychologist

Many people experience difficulties with either feeling low or experiencing raised levels of anxiety. This might be as a result of many influences, which could include:

  • Relationship difficulties
  • Strain resulting from work, or a feeling that it lacks meaning and purpose
  • Going through a transitional period in life
  • Having to make important decisions
  • Substance misuse

Medium term psychotherapy has been an effective way to help people address these problems and is something Dr H. Eli Joubert commonly uses in his clinical practice, often in addition to anti-depressant medication (although this is a choice and is not a required course of treatment).

Rather than using a pure Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) approach, he favours a combination of CBT, Behavioural, Psychodynamic, Systemic and Psycho-Educational theories and practices in helping people to deal with their challenges. He has found this to be an effective way to work with patients and, with more than 10 years clinical experience in this area, he has a well established history of this approach to clinical practice.
