Gender dysphoria, sometimes known as gender incongruence, is a condition where a person experiences discomfort or distress because their gender identity (a person’s own sense of their gender) does not match their biological sex (their biological sex as assigned at birth, depending on the appearance of the genitals).
Transgenderism is when a person establishes a permanent identity with the opposite gender to their biological sex. Transgender men and women wish to make a transition from their biological sex to that of their gender identity, with some type of medical alteration (gender reassignment therapy) to their body.
